Q: What do we spray our lilacs with at this time of the year?

A: We have a product called liquid copper that should help your lilacs bloom better in the spring. Many folks don't realize that non-blooming lilacs are usually caused by disease and this is the time of the year that you spray when they are still dormant. You will also want to re-apply this same spray as the buds begin to pop open.

Q: What is a good Spring blooming tree  that doesn't get to large and is a "little" deer resistant?

A: The Nanny Berry tree should do the trick. White flower in the spring followed by wonderful berries (the birds just love them) and the fall colors will have you wearing your sunglasses! We also  have many other varieties that are just waiting for someone to take home and enjoy. Choices would include flowering plums, Serviceberry, and Golden Rain tree. Spring is for planting

Q: I would like to try growing a couple of herb plants indoors. Could you share with me some of the better choices. I do love Basil and Cilantro.

A: Well first off I have to say that your one and two choices are not the best for indoor growing, so lets take a look at some that might add to your next salad dressing! Parsley, chives, oregano, and thyme would all be GREAT choices you might begin with. Make sure you you high quality organic potting soil and a blended liquid organic fertilizer as your nutrition source. Bright light and cool temperatures are your best location. Don't over-water your new found edibles....... Happy indoor gardening..

Q: I have a birch tree and an Aspen tree that had bugs last year. Is there any product that I can apply in the spring and early summer to help control them?

A: We stock a "Fertilome" product called Tree and Shrub that can be applied around the base of the tree that should offer some very good relief to bug problems. Not only the bugs on the leaves, but bugs hidden inside the trunk of the tree. GREAT product showing very good results.
